Давні українські легенди твердять, що червона рута – то квітка, яка лише раз на 10 років зацвітає червоним кольором.

Біля підніжжя найвищої української гори Говерли вдруге за рік розцвіла червона рута – саме так гуцули називають рододендрон східнокарпатський. Про таке повідомляє Закарпатське обласне управління лісового та мисливського господарства в Facebook. “Це варто побачити! На Говерлі рясно цвіте рододендрон”, – зазначається у повідомленні. Директор Рахівського лісового дослідного господарства Володимир Приступа пояснює: “Ми тут бачимо рододендрон східнокарпатський – червону руту, дуже рідкісну. Є не тільки рожеві квіти, а є і білі, які виглядають, як альбіноси. Для горян це особлива рослина, її люблять і шанують, оспівують у народній творчості. У старій українській легенді розповідається про квітку, яка лише раз на десять років зацвітає червоним кольором. І коли котра дівчина знайде квітку й подарує юнакові, той буде завжди кохати її, ніколи не зрадить”. Зауважимо, що росте рододендрон східнокарпатський тільки на найвищих гірських хребтах і це велика вдача – потрапити на пік його цвітіння. Побачити цвітіння можна на схилах масивів Чорногори, Мармарошу і Свидівця. “Саме у підніжжя Говерли наразі і цвіте квітка кохання. Тож поспішайте побачити яскраво-червоні килими з цвіту цієї дивовижної високогірної рослини”, – закликали туристів місцеві. За древніми гуцульськими легендами, які й досі з покоління в покоління переказують жителі гірської Рахівщини, червоною рутою вважають рододендрон миртолистий. Це низькорослий сланкий вічнозелений кущ, який на високогірних полонинах у червні зацвітає яскраво-червоним цвітом. Назва rhododendron походить від двох грецьких слів – rhodos-троянда і dendron-дерево (трояндове дерево).
